One question that people stress about when planning their session is, what happens if it rains for our session? Trust me, I know just how stressful it can be to be dependent on the weather. It is ALWAYS a factor.
Let me begin by telling you that my number one priority is that you are happy with your photos. That is the most important thing for me. You have decided to hire me to capture a special moment in your life and I want to make sure that I deliver the best photos possible. It is my job to protect your investment. I realize that you have put your trust in me and I want to honor that trust by doing the best job possible.
I had no idea that in order to take photos I was going to need to be plugged into the weather. The app most checked (besides social media) has to be the weather app. Really apps, because I have several that I rely on. I always check chance or rain, cloud coverage, and wind. Wind can really ruin a good hair day. Or it can make for some really cool photos!
Let’s pretend your session is coming up. We are about a week out from your session. On my end I will start looking at the weather and checking to see what it’s is going to look like. If I see that rain could happen you will get a text from me. At this point a reschedule is not 100% certain. But I do want us to start thinking of other possibilities. I always like a plan B. We will discuss possibilities and a timeline of when you need your photos by. Once we have a plan B I will relax a bit.
As the week moves along I will continue to monitor what the weather is predicting to do. Now, if you have hair and makeup appointments we might need to decide sooner rather than later what we do. We need to take into consideration their hair and makeup artist’s time. If you don’t have an hair and makeup appointment that we have more time to wait it out.
What if we DO reschedule our session?
If we end up making the decision to reschedule I am confident that we did the right thing. We will pick a date that works for everyone’s schedule. And we will meet a the new time that we have set up. This is really done to keep the stress to the lowest levels possible. I know that getting your pictures taken can be very stressful. And thinking about what happens if it rains for our session should not be anything that adds to your stress.
I do want you to know that sometimes we can’t reschedule. We can have the whole family together again for another year, or the photos are due soon. When worse comes to worse the best communication can save us. My number one goal is that you love your photos. And that your experience with Maria Snider Photography is the best possible one!
