Cheerleading is serious business here in Texas and these girls are pros! I had the pleasure of photographing them before the season started. We had their cheerleading team pictures in The Woodlands at the end of summer and they were troopers at dealing with the heat. The Texas heat is no joke. All the girls brought their A game and were real professionals when it came down to taking pictures and following instructions. The afternoon was super hot but the light was amazing. I love when I get to work with amazing light!
We started the session with the 7th grade team picture. The wood shingle building and the tall grasses were a perfect backdrop for out team pictures. A couple of snaps and we were done.
Then we moved on to the 8th grade team photo. Same set up just a year older and a couple more girls.
Then it was time for the whole team to get in and take one together. 
Once we were done with all the team poses we could move on to the individual poses. These poses were my favorite! I had a couple of ideas I wanted to the and they were all in. 
One thing I found out while I was shooting with them is that the 8th graders get a megaphone. It’s a right of passage. The 7th grade girls don’t get one until they make the team in their 8th grade. Then they can take their cheerleading team pictures with them. I am sure they can’t wait to get them they are sooo cute!
At the end of the night I was a happy camper. The girls had beautiful photos to document their year in cheer. I had worked with fun and pretty girls and I had beautiful images to work with. Also, I really enjoyed working with all the girls. This boy mom sometimes wishes she was a cheer mom.
